This study was performed to investigate blood parasites in pigeons in Elazığ district in the year of 2000. During this period peripheral blood smears were prepared from a total of 53 pigeons (Columba livia). The smears were stained with Giemsa’s stain solution (5 %, pH 7.2) then examined under the microscope with oil objective. Thirty nine (73.58 %) out of the 53 pigeons were found infected with Haemoproteus columbae. No other blood parasites were detected.
