Keywords: Corn, sorghum, oats, sugar beet pulp, silage, digestibility

The aim of this study was to determine the qualities of oats, corn, sorghum and sugar beet pulp silages prepared by the addition of 6% straw, by detecting their effects on feed intake and digestibility of nutrients in lambs.

In the study, the differences on the digestibilities on organic matter between the groups of oats, sugar beet pulp+straw, sorghum and corn silages were determmined as 68.22, 74.39, 76.56 and 79.42 % respectively, and these differences was found to be statistically significant (P<0.01). The lowest digestibilities of crude fiber nitrogen free extract were determined in oats silage (P<0.05). The digestibility of crude protein of oats silage was also determined to be the lowest value between the groups (P>0.05).

The dry matter levels in sorghum, corn, oats and sugar beet pulp+straw silages were determined to be 39.07, 34.86, 21.15 and 16.60 %, respectively and these levels effected dry matter intake. An order of sorghum silage > corn silage > oats silage > sugar beet pulp + straw silage, was observed in the daily dry matter intake.
