A case of zinc deficiency in a feedlot cattle is described. Thickening and scaling of the skin especially prominent on the face, neck, medial parts of the hind legs, tail and scrotum were common clinical signs. Serum zinc concentration was low (19.8 µg/dl). Histopathologic examination of skin biopsy sample revealed parakeratosis, perivascular mononuclear infiltration and increase in dermal collagen deposition. Treatment with oral zinc oxide resulted in successful recovery. A cause for deficiency could not be established.
