Usage of Autogenous Fascia Lata Graft of Treatment of Experimental Large Defected Abdominal Hernias in Dogs

The aim of the present study was usability of autogenous fascia lata graft in large defected abdominal hernias in dogs.

This study was conducted on 10 female dogs (2-3 years old) of different breed and weight. Ventral abdominal hernias of 6 x 6 cm in dimentions were constituted in the dogs. The hernias were closed with autogenous fascia lata grafts. The dogs were sacrificed at the end of the first and second months and tissue samples were harvested.

In conclusion, the clinic and histopathologic findings showed that usage of autogenous fascia lata graft could be applied with confidence in treatment of large defected abdominal hernias in dogs.
