Keywords: Genetically modified, ecosystem, soil, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)

Recently, the control methods that are alternatives to pesticides to increase the agricultural production and to provide high quality of agriculture products have gained importance. With the rapid advances of molecular biology and genetic engineering, researches have been concentrated on transgenic plants, resistant to the insects. The use of insecticidal Cry proteins from the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), to raise the crop production is an example. In this study, the information about the effects of genetically modified crops on the soil ecosystems is given.
