The Etiologic Distribution of The Patients Referring to A Pediatric Endocrin Unit

To evaluate the characteristic populations of the patients who have referred to pediatric endocrinology unit at Medical School of Fırat University from the date that had served.

Data have been obtained from the recording forms of patients who have been followed up at pediatric endocrin unit between 01.01.2006 and 31.12.2007. The ages, genders, diagnosis and proportions of hospitalisation have been searched retrospectively. Data have been evaluated as avarage and percentile at this cross-sectional investigation annually.

Results 1650 patients have applied to pediatric endocrin unit in one year and while of these 246 (14.9 %) have been hospitalized, remainder of 1404 (85.1 %) have been evaluated in policlinic conditions. The most diagnosis were growth delaying and short stature (29.3 %) preceeding by thyroid gland diseases (20.6 %). Disorders of glucose metabolism, obesity and pubertal disorders have been the other frequent diseases. A significant decreasing in diagnosis of nutritional rickets has been paied attention.

Knowing of distribution of diseases at pediatric endocrin unit, will help to manage health services, to organise human work power and technical background and finally to plan health projects and scientific studies relating this region.
