This study was performed to search on existence and seasonal fluctuation of myiasis flies in Hatay province (Antakya, Kirikhan, Hassa and Belen) in 2002. These selected districts were regularly visited in the active season for myiasis flies and totaly, 1046 (138 male and 908 female) myiasis flies were collected by using putrefied liver on which was sprinkled snip granule (Z-9 tricosen, Azamethiphos) in the study.

According to their morphological characteristics, the majority of 6 species of myiasis flies was Lucilia sericata (63,58%). The percentages of Chrysomyia albiceps (26,39%) with Calliphora vicina (4,88%), C. vomitaria (0,03%), Sarcophaga haemorrhoidalis (3,54%) and S. carnaria (1,34%), alternately. Lucilia sericata and Ch. albiceps were seen in all the province. However, C. vicina and C. vomitaria were not found among the species in Reyhanlı, Altınözü, Dörtyol and Erzin where the samples were collected and visited only once for determination of the fauna present. Most of the flies (86,81%) were females which use proteins derived from animals as breeding sources.

Seasonal activities of the flies ranged from April to October. They occurred in April, increased in number until May and decreased gradually until October. The highest rates of flies were found during May (24,28%) and the lowest during October (1,43%).

As a result, it must be considered mostly obtained (90%) the important myiasis flies, L. sericata and Ch. albiceps species, in Hatay province.
