Effects of Multi Enzyme Supplementation to Corn-Based Diet on Performance and Egg Characterizations in Japonesse Quails (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) reared at Different Sex Ratios

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of multi enzyme supplementation (protease, phytase, β-glucanase, xylanase) and sex ratio on performance and egg characterizations in quails fed on corn-based diets. In this study, a total of 100 Japonesse quails (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) of 58 days of age were used according to 2x2 factorial experimental design. It was constituted that 4 groups to two different diet (enzyme supplemented (1 g/kg diet) and no enzyme supplemented) and two different sex (male/female) ratio (1/3 and 1/5). Multi enzyme was not supplemented to group 1 (Control 1/3) and quails were placed as one male and three female to each cage. Multi enzyme was not supplemented to group 2 (Control 1/5) and quails were placed as one male and five female to each cage. Multi enzyme was supplemented to group 3 (Enzyme 1/3) and quails were placed as one male and three female to each cage. Multi enzyme was supplemented to group 4 (Enzyme 1/5) and quails were placed as one male and five female to each cage. Multi enzyme supplementation improved quail / day production (P<0.001), feed conversion ratio (P<0.01), egg weight (P<0.01) and shell weight (P<0.001). Sex ratio (1/5) improved feed conversion ratio (P<0.01) and shell index (P<0.01). In conclusion, enzyme supplementation can improve performance and egg parameters in quails fed corn-based diet.
