The aim of this study is correlation of our dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) values of local women population in last six years with “Bone mineral density values of healthy Turkish population” pressed at 2001 and refreshing old data with wide series and examination of local differentiation and add to literature.
In this study, the patients having no fracture history and no other classification were examined with the bone mineral density (BMD) values when they first applied retrospectively. Patients’, whatever they applied for, thought to represent normal population, spine, proximally femur and whole body BMD values were calculated. In our center between 28.04.1997-15.07.2003, nearly in six years we examined 1199 whole body, 1244 femur, 1620 lumbar spine and 4063 totally DEXA of 2763 women having the criteria above. Average BMD values of patients whose ages classified according to decades were correlated with standard reference values statistically. We believe that in our study BMD values of local women populations represent more corrective values. Our study carries out that BMD values of women populations show local differences and this local differences should to be considered. |
