Investigation of Prevalence of Foot Diseases in The Cattle in The Malatya Region

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of foot diseases in cattle of the province of Malatya and its districts. As material, 7040 cattle were used. The distribution of foot diseases and hoof deformations by number, ratio, races, age and gender were determined with the data obtained from the examinations and the herd observation form. As a result of the hoof examination performed on the animals and the herd observation form performed on the animal owners, 647 of the 7040 animals were found to have hoof problems. Considering the distribution of foot diseases by races, it was found that it was most seen in the Simental breed cattle with 16.52%, and the least in the Montophon cattle with 2.61%. It was seen that 15.46% of the animals with foot diseases were male and 84.54% were female. Scissor hoof, sharp hoof and twisted hoof were determined as the most common hoof deformations. Among the foot diseases detected at the end of the study, interdigital dermatitis was found to be the most common disease with 19.04%, and the side wall ulcus as a rare disease with 1.15%. As a result, it was determined that the prevalence of hoof diseases in cattle in Malatya region was 9.19%.
