Gastroduodenal perforations are one of the important disease groups that were treatened by surgical operations. There are disparities between the institutes about replacing drain or not during the surgical operations of perforated peptic ulcer. This study’s aim is to establish the safety and effeciency of replacing abdominal drain after primary repairment of perforated peptic ulcer and closing the omentum. Two different operation methods were used in 133 patients. 74 patients with drainage and 59 patients without drainage were examined retrospectively. Ages, analgesice drugs and gastroprotective drugs administrations, ulcer types, mortalities, complications, operation types were compared between two groups. 59 patients without drainage, 47 men ,12 women were 51±0,18 years old, stayed in hospital for 7,1±0,4 days and their operation period was 64±0,25 minutes.74 patients with drainage 54 men 19 women were 55±0,18 years old ,stayed in hospital for 9±0,6 days and their operation period was 82±0,41 minutes. Complications, anamnesis of ulcer administrations of analgesice and gastroprotective drugs, types of ulcer, mortality rations ,and ages were reported. And there wasn’t any statistical significant differences between the two groups (p>0.05). But significant statistical differences were found, drained patients staying period in hospital and operation period were longer than the other group (p<0.05). We thought that if there weren’t large abcess cavity and severe loundry ratio, using drainage was unnecessary.
