It was aimed to investigate macroanatomical structure of the neurocranium of Hasak crossbreed sheep carrying 31.25% Hampshire Down (HD) + 31.25% German Black Headed Mutton (GBM) + 37.50% Akkaraman genotypes and to determine similarities and differences between other domestic and wild sheep. A total of 10 HASAK crossbreed sheep type were used without sexual distinction. After the heads were separated from the body, each head was boiled in water. The skull samples were prepared by removing the soft tissues from the head. The inspection was performed with the naked eye; and the pictures of the samples were taken by using a Sony Digital Camera. The neurocranium has consisted of os occipitale, os sphenoidale, os pterygoideum, os ethmoidale, vomer, os temporale, os parietale and os frontale. A longitudinal sulcus was observed in the middle of the tuberculum musculare in Hasak crossbreed sheep type. Crista occipitalis externa was determined on squama occipitalis of os occipitale. Fossa condylaris ventralis was deeper and evident than fossa condylaris dorsalis. Processus pterygoideus had a curl toward lateral side. Fossa mandibularis was in shape of a shallow groove. Os parietale was consisted of planum parietale and planum temporale. Crista tentorica was sharp and had a shape of bow. Hasak sheep was hornless and the structure of a fossa was observed in the area where horn bulge is found in wild sheep. Because there is not any macro-anatomical study about Hasak sheep, this study has been expected to constitute a resource for future research.
