Objective: In this retrospective study, we aimed to evaluate the etiology, surgical outcomes, and complications of iatrogenic bladder and ureter traumas that occurred in our hospital over the last 10 years.

Materials and Methods: We obtained the data from our hospital database regarding patients who suffered bladder and ureter injuries occurred due to iatrogenic reasons between 2013 and 2023. We conducted a retrospective evaluation of patient parameters, including age, gender, presence of chronic diseases, primary etiological cause of injury, repair method used, follow-up period, and post-operative complications.

Results: The study involved 104 patients who had experienced bladder trauma. Of these, 17 were male (16.35%) and 87 were female (83.65%). The average age of the participants was 45.08 years, with the youngest being 1.5 years old and the oldest being 90 years old. All instances of iatrogenic bladder perforation were treated with primary repair, either through open or laparoscopic surgery. The study observed 19 patients who suffered iatrogenic ureteric trauma, with the majority being female (89.5%), and the rest being male (10.5%). Their age ranged from 36 to 76 years, with an average age of 54.36 years. The average follow-up period was 7.72 days, with a range of 1 to 72 days. The primary cause of bladder trauma was obstetric and gynecological operations.

Conclusion: Iatrogenic bladder and ureter traumas can be treated successfully if diagnosed early and treated properly.
