The contaminated surfaces can cause the invazion of pathogen microorganisms in the hospital. The aim of the present study was to investigate the bacterial colonization of door handles and faucets that are frequently used by hospital staff, patients and visitors in various units of our hospital. The swab materials of totally 99 door handles and 45 faucets at various clinics in our hospital were cultured on 5% sheep blood agar and EMB agar. After incubation for 24-48 hours at 37ºC , the bacteria were identified by conventional bacteriologic methods. Bacterial growth was detected in 55 (55.5%) of 99 door handles, 31 (68.8%) of 45 faucets. Polimicrobial growth was occured in 87% of positive cultures. Training of the hospital staff and patients on general hygiene rules and cleaning door handles and faucets with use the appropriate disinfectants are very important
