The Role and Period of Conservative Treatment in Postoperative Small Bowel Obstruction Due to Intra-abdominal Adhesions

It was aimed to reveal the tolerability period of conservative treatment in patients with postoperative small bowel obstruction due to adhesions Between 2002 and 2007, a total of 106 patients presented to Firat University, Department of General Surgery due to intra-abdominal adhesions with small bowel adhesions were retrospectively evaluated. A total of 143 administrations were evaluated in this study. Hundred and three patients underwent conservative treatment. The mean durations of follow-up with medical and surgical treatments were 6.8 and 4.2 days, respectively. Fever and white blood cell count > 15.000 was accompanied with intestinal complications. A one-week medical treatment for postoperative intra-abdominal adhesions due to small bowel obstruction can be tolerated.
