An Investigation of Some Variables in Injured Individuals Who Play Football on Synthetic Football Fields

Football is the sport which takes the most attention in the world and millions of individuals practising it actively. Besides the fact of this interest, there may be some injuries in football playing. As all sport branches, there are some injuries in football playing at synthetic pitches too. The purpose of this investigation is to analyse the ages of individuals who plays football at synthetic football fields, healthy life and their injury statuses. The investigation is carried out according to the survey results of a number of 130 individuals who play football on synthetic football fields in Elazığ province. Analyses of the data was performed using SPSS programme.

It is observed that, 63,1% of the individuals who play football on synthetic football fields were under age of 30. Rate of smokers and individuals who uses alcohol are low in this classification. It is also observed that, 51,5% of the individuals in this research were actively participating on sports in the past and 23,3% of them are still having sport activities. According to this investigation the rate of individuals who did not have warm-up exercises or had insufficient warm-up exercises were low. Of the individuals participated in this study, 59,2% were injured for 1 to 2 times and injured body parts inferior extremites in the majority of the cases. Injuries diagnosed as buckling, contusion and traction. The opponent sportsmen, insufficient warm-up exercising and playing on synthetic fieldl were the causes of injuries. The individuals previously engaged in sport activities were determined to be having more warm-up exercises than indivduals who were not involved in sports actively.
