In this study, the aim has been to investigate and compare fluid consumption and amount of fluid and knowledge level of male and female students in different departments of universities.

The coverage of research has been composed of Firat, Cukurova, 18 Mart, 19 Mayis and Kafkas universities. As a sample group total of 678 students were 445 male aged 22.4±2.85 and 233 female aged 21.6±2.52, chosen with the simple randomly method. The questionnaire form was prepared to designate daily fluid consumption and knowledge level of them.

Statistically significant difference has been found (p<0.05) between students of physical education and the other department (Physical Education and Sport School: 2114±184 ml, Other Department: 1848±144 ml). Daily water consumption for male and females were 913±9.27 ml, and for the physical education and sport school students were 910±10.71 ml and for the other departments were 760±8.81 ml. There was the effect of sex on tea consumption and it was observed that males (27.43%) were more tea consumption than female students. 58.7%of the students explained at the inquiry that they were “providing their lost of the daily fluid consumption”, and 21.2%pointed out that “conscious fluid unconsumed” and 14.9%stated that water is “essential for life function” and 3.4%were indicated that they were “drinking to overcome their thirsty”.

As a result, there is no important effect of sex on fluid consumption (p>0.05), the amount of daily fluid consumption of male and female students is less than necessary daily taken minimum value and, it has been determined conscious fluid unconsumed of them.
