Calcium channel blockers are used frequently in the emergency departments in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and supraventricular tachycardias. Poisonings with them proceed more fatal than poisonings with other cardiovascular drugs. In this study we aimed to review Ca channel blocker poisonings with this case report.

Twenty-year-old male patient was brought to the emergency department due to vomiting and loss of consciousness. It was learned from relatives of the patient that he took unknown number of diltiazem tablets. In the emergency department gastric lavage was performed; activated charcoal, Ca gluconate and glucagon were given to the patient. Due to development of complete AV block, pace maker was inserted to the patient and he was than hospitalized to intensive care unit. Two days later he was discharged from the intensive care unit with complete recovery
