Several exercise programmes are performing with the aim of gaining success, increasing the power and endurance. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of two-exercise type on quadriceps muscle using computerised En-Tree block load test.

Thirty volunteered healthy young subjects were randomly divided into three groups. In the first study group De Lorme, in the second study group Oxford exercise technique was used for giving exercise to the quadriceps of the dominant side five days a week for three weeks. No exercise was performed in the control group. 10 REM (repetition maximum) values of each subject were determined. In the first group exercise was started from 100% of the 10 REM value followed by 75 and 50% of the 10 REM value. The 10 REM values were re-evaluated each week. Calf diameter, quadriceps peak power (PP) and peak force (PF) values were determined. SPSS for Windows was used for statistical analysis.

There was no significant change during the study in the measured parameters of the control group. Significant increase in 10 REM values observed in the last week De Lorme technique, and in the second week for Oxford technique (p<0.05). The largest increase in extremity diameter was observed 15 cm above the patella (First group: 45.7±2.4- 47±2.3, Second group:46.4±3.5- 48±4.2, control: 44.9±3.3-45.4±3.4) (p<0.01). Mean PP and PF values were significantly increased after the third week in both exercise test groups.
